We can't thank you enough for the new addition to our family, Finn. Finn has turned out to be everything and more that we thought he would be, especially considering he is less than a year old. Finn has not only been a great addition to my hunting, he is a joy to have around the house and gets along great with our other two dogs. We already love him more than we thought we would have.
His first retrieve was a wood duck that came in and landed in the water about ten feet in front of him and I thought, ooo boy, here we go; thinking he was going to be gone after seeing the duck land so close. To my surprise, he held tight and did not move until after the bird had been shot and he had been sent as he was taught. I have to admit that I was nervous of a dog that weighed barely sixty pounds retrieving the giant Canadian geese we shoot here in Illinois, but again to my surprise it was no problem. His first goose wasn't the prettiest retrieve ever, but for a dog to drag a giant Canadian goose through a corn field 45 yards shows that he has drive. It did not take him long to figure out his own method of carrying these heavy loads.
You have been so accommodating, answering all of my questions and always calling back when I called you for help. Everything you said Finn would be he is, and so much more.

Now that Chance's first duck season is over, I thought I'd let you know how well he did in the field and how pleased we are to have him in our family. Chance had a great season - he hunted 22 days, retrieved 90 ducks and learned something new on every hunt. He saved his best or last, however. On the last day of the season, two of us hunted and killed two limits of mallards. Chance retrieved them all, two of which were double retrieves, and he handled them with perfection.
In addition to having a great first duck season as a young dog (16 months), from the minute he came home with us he has been a great family dog and companion. Chance comes to the office every day with me and behaves as if he's been doing it for years. At home you couldn't ask for a better dog to have around a young family. Most nights he endures my 2 and 4 year olds laying on him, pulling his ears and everything else they can dream up. Through all of this, he pretends as if they aren't even there.
I've had some good dogs, but none like Chance. I appreciate you working with me to find the right dog and getting him ready to come home and be a hunter and a terrific family pet.

Marty Roberts is a Southern Gentleman. his depth of character is reflected in the quality of the dog I purchased from him. His training engendered a dog that is gentle, sensitive, obedient, and a pleasure to be with. Yet Marty’s gun dog training is trans-formational. Will, the dog I purchased from him, becomes energetic, focused, and driven when the whistle or bumper comes out. It’s as if he has the internal switch that goes off when it is time to work. Will really has two personalities – and easy to be with, comfortable pal, and a hard-working, obedient servant. I highly recommend buying one of Marty’s dogs.

I just wanted to thank you for doing such a great job with Cooper. As of today, he has picked up 587 ducks and geese this year. Not bad for a first year dog. He has proven to me that you are the right man to train my dogs!

Just wanted to tell you how happy we are with our new dog Huck. He’s been great. He had a long 16 hour ride home with me and he did well. He took to me right away. Once we got home he got to meet the family. I was a little worried about having a new puppy and a three-month-old baby boy. I couldn’t believe how great he was in the house with us. He is very well behaved, everywhere I take him people can’t believe he’s only 10 months old because he listened so well. I got to take him hunting within a couple of days and was pleasantly surprised. He held so well, I was very impressed he made a couple retrieves out about 100 yards the first time I took him to the river. It is so nice to have a dog that holds well, it makes a big difference when you’re dog stays tight until you tell him to go. This dog can hunt all day and turn it off when he comes home, it’s really nice. Thanks for everything we are very happy. I sent some photos of him in the house and in the field.

We picked up our started 8 month Lab, Tate, the third week of November and couldn't be happier. When I was looking for a dog, I explained to Marty that our dogs weren't just working dogs but a part of the family. We take our dogs everywhere from the beach to the ball games, so they have to be very social around humans and other pets.
Tate has fit in perfect, he is very dossal and playful with my 4 and 2 year old sons, our 10 year old Lab, and small lap dog. He's a joy to have!!! He's also picked up over 200 ducks so far this year, and has great natural instinct and hunting ability. I can't wait to take him back to Marty for him to advance his training even more. My hunting partners call him "pocket Lab" and "light Switch", because compared to my older American Lab he will fit just about anywhere. When he's at the camp he's lying around sleeping, but the second you get ready to load up to go hunt he's like a different dog.
Thanks for the great addition to the family, Marty!

Deek has been at Sporting Life Kennels for about five months now. I have to say that I have been 100% satisfied with the progression of my dog as well as the attention that has been given to my dog. Marty has been wonderful in taking special consideration to work with my dog at a pace that is individual to Deek. I was pleasantly satisfied to see that every dog gets individual analysis and attention to meet their needs, instead of a "one size fits all" training method. Every dog is different and Sporting Life Kennels understands this.
I highly recommend Sporting Life Kennels to anyone who is looking for a well trained hunting partner. My only wish is that duck season was not so far away!

Hi Marty, just a short update on Tom. The weather has slowed down for now, but we did get some good hunting in. Tom is turning out to be a great companion, more than expected for the time we have had together. The best part is he LOVES to hunt and retrieve; snow and cold don't have any bearing on his will to get that bird. I have been impressed on some of the retrieves he has made in the deep snow. He is still bulling his way through the cattail sloughs, but using his nose more and more. Very pleased on the choice that I made.
